Recently there has been more talk on companies moving to a 4 day work week with employees only working 30-32 hours per week with the same productivity levels as a 5 day week and maintaining the same pay.

This sounds to good to be true but is it?

More and more research is being carried out in this area and the results are looking good. If you’re interested in looking into this more, I’ve included at the bottom of the post a link to an article that outlines some recent research and is a good starting point to learn more about this approach to work.

In short, it seems that workers are happier, they have better personal and family well-being and are just as productive, if not more productive than they were previously. And they are discovering hobbies and community in new ways.

As we understand more about personal and community well-being, it may be that a shorter working week, producing the same results, will have a beneficial outcome for business, the community and people in general.
